Youngsters at the day care dressed up and took part in activities such as a sponsored silence, a human train where they buy a ticket to join, and an obstacle course to raise money to support research into the condition.

Childminder Tracey Butler said: “It went really well and we have raised £135 so far.

“We’re hoping it will get higher because the donations are still coming in.

“It was a success considering we are only a small setting, but we all look after each other.

“Poppy has certain medication she has to take.

“She usually gets on with most things but we have to monitor what she drinks and she’s only allowed to have a certain amount of fluid throughout the day.

“The other children absolutely adore her and all take care of her and look after her.”
