Driver is bailed in death crash investigation

A motorist arrested after a woman was killed when the car he was driving hit a lamp-post, has been bailed.

The 27-year-old, from Lytham, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and causing death by driving without due care/ consideration while over the specified limit after the crash which killed passenger Nyki Taylor.

The 39-year-old died from her injuries after the collision involving a Vauxhall Astra on Blackpool Road, Ansdell at 6.10am on Sunday.

The family of Mrs Taylor, who ran Taylor’s Cafe on Clifton Street, paid tribute to her, describing her as “a loving daughter and sister who was taken from us too suddenly and too soon.

“Words cannot describe our loss, she will be in our hearts forever.”

The driver has been bailed to February 22.

Emergency services were called to the incident and road closures were put in place on the road, known as Skew 
Bridge as it crosses the South Fylde railway line between Bridge Road and Cambridge Road.

The accident happened on the Ansdell side of the bridge, the car hitting a lamp-post and fencing at Witch Wood. Call police on 101 with any information.
