A driver suffered a broken ankle in a two-car collision on the M6.

A BMW collided with the central reservation and came to a stop in the northbound outside lane between junctions 32 and 33 on Friday night.

Lancashire Road Police said a Mercedes then collided with the BMW and the Mercedes driver suffered the ankle injury.

Emergency services were called to the scene and damage to the barriers meant the outside lane was closed for a time in both directions.
