Drivers pay tribute to Ted in 55th annual run

Christopher Lee, of the Lancashire Automobile club, said 64 started the route and 58 made the finish in Stanley Gardens.

Drivers started in Worseley Old Hall, visiting Haslingden, Pendle Hill, and climbed Jeffrey Hill before a lunch stop at Fulwood Barracks, and then a route through Wrea Green and Lytham to the finish.

Christopher said: “Our usual lunch stop was double booked and the museum at Fulwood Barracks stepped in which we are thankful for.”

David Newbold drove an Austin Iver in memory of his uncle Ted Newbold, who died last year

Christopher added: “Ted took part in every one of the 54 previous events and David drove in the run in tribute to him.”
