Lytham’s Park View 4U playing fields have been shortlisted for a major national honour.
The Charity Awards are one of the sector’s most prestigious schemes, and the 2013 winners will be announced on June 13.
The Park View 4U project has been shortlisted from hundreds of entries in the environment and conservation category alongside just two other charities - including the national body, the Woodlands Trust.
Daniel Phelan, organiser of The Charity Awards said: “In being shortlisted Park View 4U has demonstrated exceptional performance against as many of the ten hallmarks of excellence as possible. I wish them the best of luck on the night.”
Aurelio Arciniega chairman of Park View 4U added: “I am immensely proud that the achievements of Park View 4U have been recognised by the Charity Awards.
“It is particularly impressive when you consider the other organisations that have been short-listed in our category
”This nomination reflects the amazing response that we have had from the local community and the fantastic work of everyone connected to the charity over the last 10 years.”
The awards programme stated Park View 4U has: “Resulted in greater community cohesion and improved the quality of life for the neighbourhood and park users. It has helped to reduce anti-social behaviour and youth nuisance in the town by giving young people something positive to channel their energies into.
“Some elderly residents feel they have been given a new lease of life.”
If the charity is successful, it will also be in the running for the Overall Award for excellence, selected from the 10 category winners on the night.
