A St Annes soldier has completed his latest challenge to become part of the first injured veterans’ team to walk to both the North and South Poles.

Lance Cpl Nick Webb, 25, (pictured) of the Royal Dragoon Guards, suffered a fractured heel when he stepped on an Improvised Explosive Device during a tour of Afghanistan in 2012.

Four teams - Team UK, Team Baltic, Team Europa and Team Arctic - took part in the Mamont Cup challenge led by world renowned polar explorers.

Team UK arrived at the North Pole first as part of the expedition, which was sponsored by the Mamont Foundation which aims to raise awareness of the importance of continued research, and exploration of polar regions.
