The unusual guests turned up to Glenroyd after they were invited by the home’s activities coordinator, Chelsea Boyd.

Chelsea said: “It started when I asked the residents what they wanted and a few of them said they would like a few different animals to come in.

“I knew about Farmer Parrs and I asked them if they would come in.

“So a couple of staff came along and the residents absolutely loved it.”

The animals were not only out in the grounds, but also came inside the home itself.

Chelsea added: “We combined the visit with a spring fair and we had lots of visitors on the day, from Park School Choir, Meadow Kindergarten and even the deputy mayor and mayoress of Blackpool.”

Lee Whitehead, of Farmer Parrs, said: “We’ll be looking to do more of this and also plan to visit schools in the near future.”
