FEARS over plans to put a telecoms dish on St Annes Parish Church tower have been allayed.
An unholy row could have erupted over the move.
But the church said there was nothing to worry about – and that there was even telecoms equipment up there already.
Priest in charg Revd David Lyon said: “It’s not going to be anything like Del Boy – it will be inconspicuous.”
Revd Lyon was referring to the hilarious Only Fools and Horses episode ‘The Sky’s the Limit’ in which a satellite dish on Del Boy’s flat turned out to be stolen from Gatwick Airport.
Mobile phone service provider H3G (UK) Ltd wants to install the equipment on the cherished 140-year-old St Annes Road East building.
St Annes Town Council was expected to discuss the application last night after resident, Bob Fielding, wrote to them with his concerns.
The deal provides income for the church.
Churchwarden Eric Roberts said: “I don’t think it is too obtrusive.”
