Festival flies high as kites take to the air
Colourful kites took to the air this weekend as people gathered in their thousands at the St Annes Kite Festival.
The annual event brought in kite flyers from all over the world, including the Kuwaiti national team flying the world’s biggest kite.

Hide AdMeanwhile, a music festival featuring the best of local talent drew music lovers into Ashton Gardens near the town centre.
Event organiser Pat May said: “We had more kites this year than ever before. Flyers had come from all over the UK, America and Singapore.
“There must have been 20,000 people there each day, all smiling and happy.
“The businesses were absolutely crammed and it was a fantastic success.

Hide Ad“With the music on the beach and the Samba parade and the beautiful dancers it made for an incredible colourful spectacle.
“This is a free event run by volunteers and we do it for the love of the town.
“It would never have happened without the help of the council and the support of our local businesses and hotels who sponsor us.”
