Festival to soar as high-flying kites return

St Annes Kite Festival takes place on Saturday and Sunday.

Along with single line kites of all shapes and sizes, including a 30 metre long inflatable Octopus, flying cows, dogs, hippos, the free event, which runs between 11am and 5pm on both days, will feature Oscar, billed as the largest teddy bear kite in the world, plus two-line and four-line stunt kites flown in time to music, and much more.

“It’s really exciting – we are all very much looking forward to what promises to be a great weekend,” said St Annes town mayor Vince Settle.

“The Festival has quickly established itself as one of the highlights of the summer in St Annes and one of the most popular of its kind in the entire country and it really is going to be bigger and better this year.”

John Moxham, chairman of St Annes Chamber of Trade, said: “We have been delighted with how the Kite Festival has grown in popularity so quickly and anything that brings people into the town is very welcome.”
