Festive lights and nostalgic delights!
Since the Festival, organised by local business owners, made its debut in 2015, the two events have been on successive weekends, with the switch-on traditionally scheduled for the last weekend in November.
But it is hoped a joint event, to be held over the weekend of December 1 and 2, will provide a major boost to town centre footfall.

Hide AdVictorian Festival organisers’ spokesman Alison Levi said: “To combine the Christmas lights switch-on with the Victorian event can only enhance both activities and make for a great weekend of entertainment for everyone in town.”
A Town Council spokesman added: “Visitor numbers at switch-ons have always peaked towards the end of the event. Linking the switch-on with the Victorian Festival will maximise visitor numbers and retail opportunities for town centre businesses. We are already inspired by the positive attitude of the Victorian Festival committee.”
