Fleetwood: From the courts 14-01-16

Paul Riding, 41, of Birnam Road, Fleetwood, pleaded not guilty to assaulting his wife on December 18 last year.

Riding was bailed to February 22 for trial by Blackpool magistrates.

He must not communicate with his wife other then to arrange child contact by phone or enter an address on Bronsfield Road, Fleetwood, as conditions of his bail.

• A woman accused of sexually molesting a teenage schoolgirl has made her first appearance at court.

Emma Williams, 42, of Devonshire Avenue, Thornton, is charged with engaging in sex with a 15-year-old girl.

She is also accused of three offences of sexually touching the same girl.

The offences are alleged to have taken place in Blackpool and Chester between April 4 and 7 last year.

Williams was bailed to appear at Preston Crown Court on February 3 by Blackpool magistrates.

She must not have unsupervised contact with any child under 16 except for fleeting or inadvertent contact as a condition of her bail.

• A teenage learner driver took his friend’s BMW and crashed it into two cars at Fleetwood.

Samuel Allen hit a woman’s car and also smashed into a parked vehicle on Whinfield Avenue.

Allen, an 18-year-old trainee scaffolder, of Deepdale Road, Fleetwood, pleaded guilty to the aggravated taking of a car, failing to stop after an accident and driving not in accordance with his licence without insurance,

He was sentenced to a 12 months community order with up to 10 days rehabilitation to be supervised by the probation service.

He was also ordered to do 200 hours unpaid work for the community, banned from the road for 12 months and told to pay £300 compensation with £85 costs plus £60 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, said a friend of Allen’s who had left his BMW parked outside the defendant’s house was told his vehicle had been involved in a crash at 9.30am on November 29.

Allen had hit the car of a woman, who recognised him, before he ran off.

In a victim impact statement the woman said she now feared driving and cannot do it.

She had suffered whiplash, had to take a week off work and her car was written-off.

Brian Weatherington, for the probation service, told magistrates that Allen said he had argued with his girlfriend that morning.

Allen had been learning to drive so he decided to take his friend’s car to go and see his girlfriend.

Patrick Nelligan, defending, said his client had only driven a short distance when he lost control of the car.
