A talented athlete at a Fylde school is on the pathway to football stardom after signing for a professional club.
Madison Hadley, a Year 8 student at Carr Hill School in Kirkham, has been signed by Preston North End after a series of impressive performances.
The 13-year-old stole the show in the Football League Girls Cup last year, scoring an impressive 12 goals and helping her school to lift the cup.
Her superb performance caught the eye of scouts at Preston North End, where the competition was hosted, and Madison was soon joining the club’s Under- 14 team for her first training session.
Having always had a passion for the game, Madison was encouraged by PE teacher Leigh Doughty and soon earned county honours, being picked to represent Lancashire.
Mr Doughty said: “Madison came along to our first girls’ football training session in October last year.
“I immediately saw that she had massive potential. I spoke to her about where she currently played football and she said for Lytham Town boys Under-13s.
“Madison is the first girl from Carr Hill to represent Lancashire at football at county level. At 13-years-old that is an unbelievable achievement.”
Madison has already played against a number of county teams and hopes the team can reach the league final which is likely to be held at a Premier League ground.
The skilled teenager has been playing the game since she was seven-years-old.
She said: “My dream is to play for Liverpool and England.
“I love football and can’t imagine doing anything else. My family are all really supportive and came along to my trials and now my games.
“I am really enjoying playing and I hope I reach the finals for both clubs.”
Mr Doughty said: “I believe that Madison has the technical ability to go to the very top of the women’s game in football.
“She needs to keep listening and learning and taking in all the advice given to her from her coaches.
“With the correct attitude and work ethic, I have no doubt she can play in The FA’s Women’s Super League.”
