Former Blackpool Tower supremo is still in the money

Former Blackpool Tower owner Trevor Hemmings has once again been named in the region's rich list.

Hemmings has an estimated wealth of £1bn in 2018, up a cool £150m from last year.

Mr Hemmings, who owns Preston North End, sits joint 10th in the North West’s money list.

At the top of the tree of the list, compiled by the Sunday Times, sits the Duke of Westminster and the Grosvenor family.

The seventh Duke of Westminster (otherwise known as Hugh Grosvenor), 27, remains the region’s richest man with a fortune of £9.964bn, which has grown by £444m in the past year alone.

He became Britain’s youngest billionaire after inheriting his title on the death of his father two years ago.

Also included in the North West list are discount retail business owners Tom Morris and family (Home Bargains) and Simon, Bobby and Robin Arora (B and M).

The combined wealth of the richest 20 in the North West is £32.175bn this year.
