The drive against dog mess has been given a boost by a new feature on St Annes seafront.
A dog waste bag dispenser has been placed for the first time on the area of grass on South Promenade which runs from Fairhaven to Derbe Road.
It is a location popular with dog walkers and ward councillor Cheryl Little hopes the readily-available bags will help in the bid for a cleaner coast.
“It’s the latest in a series of dispenser points being placed around town by St Annes Town Council and we hope it is well used,” said Coun Little, a dog owner herself.
“Not only is that a very popular area with dog walkers but it also attracts plenty of visitors, who walk along there towards Fairhaven after parking on the seafront and it is vital that is clean from dog mess and gives the best possible impression.
“The dispensers have been supplied by Fylde Council but the Town Council has decided where to place them and they are a great idea. Dog mess is a constant problem and it is vital everything is done to help make sure owners act responsibly.”
