Peter Collins is the new mayor of Fylde.
The long-serving councillor for Newton and Treales feels his previous stint as deputy mayor six years ago will stand him in good stead during a busy year of engagements.
He said: “That was a real eye-opener and great experience.
“It was the first opportunity for me to experience just how many wonderful people and organisations there are in Fylde.
“I am really looking forward to getting out and meeting them again.”
Coun Collins’ mayoress is his wife Caroline, while the new deputy mayor is Fylde’s only Labour councillor Janet Barker.
As his mayoral charities, Coun Collins has chosen Fylde Coast Women’s Aid, Fylde Foodbank and Just Good Friends, the companionship group formed in St Annes six years ago which has ambitions to grow throughout the Fylde Coast.
“All are very good causes and I hope to raise as much money as possible for them,” said Coun Collins.
“I am relishing meeting lots of people at Fylde’s wonderful range of events.”
