A Fylde comedienne is hoping to make a big splash after being named as a contestant on a popular television programme.
Former Queen Mary School student Jenny Eclair, 53, has been named as one of the stars for ITV1’s diving show Splash, which started last Saturday.
The novelist, who is set to return to the Fylde coast in May when she performs at the Blackpool Grand Theatre as part of Grumpy Old Women, said on Twitter: “Ok it’s time to whisper my showbiz secret – I’m doing the telly programme Splash and will be part of the last heat – they might have to rename it Splat!
“I currently dive like a pig stumbling over a dropped biscuit – but there will be training – however I will not be dieting.”
The show, where contestants are trained by Olympic diver Tom Daley, started on Saturday featuring Diversity dancer Perri Kiely, 18, wildlife presenter Michaela Strachan, 47, and former Eastenders actor Ricky Groves, 45.
Splash sees five celebrities dive in front of judges each week as they try to get a spot in the final stages.
