Fylde folk are eager to step out - and help raise charity cash at a new event being held this weekend.
The St Annes Carnival Committee is holding its first charity ball on Saturday - and tickets have been proving so popular it could become an annual feature on the calendar.
The evening at the Clifton Park Hotel on Clifton Drive South will feature entertainment from locally-based singers Peter Anthony and Heather Dee along with a meal and raffle and proceeds will go to this year’s Carnival charity, the North West Air Ambulance.
Carnival committee member Carlla Harris said: “We have been delighted with the response. We have been thinking for some time about holding a ball and the reaction to it has bene excellent. Hopefully it is something we can hold annually - it is a great way of adding to the charity fund and thanks to everyone who is supporting it.”
St Annes Carnival, dating back more than 90 years and originally known as the Hospital Fete, raises charity cash every year at the Carnival itself, now held over two days in July, as well as at a series of events through the year.
The cheque presented to the 2014-15 recipient, Rosemere Cancer Foundation, ahead of 10-year-old Hannah Jeffrey succeeding Charlotte Griffiths as Carnival Queen last July, totalled £6,000.
Saturday’s ball begins at 7pm with a drinks reception, followed by the meal at 8pm and tickets cost £29. Details from (01253) 780170 or (01253) 726082
