A private health company is set to launch a new clinic to help residents bridge the gap in south Fylde.

Spire Fylde Coast Hospital, based in Blackpool, will open a new £100,000 satellite clinic on Church Road, Lytham, later this month.

The new business has been established to provide an easier route to medical care for patients, rather than a near 20-mile round trip to the health company’s site in St Walburgas Road, Layton.

Liz Cousins, hospital director, said it was an “exciting period” as the company branched out.

She added: “The specialities there will be orthopaedics, general surgery and cosmetics. We will also have x-ray machines for patients.

“It is a private only clinic with no NHS. The clinic has two large consultancy rooms with parking. We’ve invested close to £100,000.

“The reason it’s being opened is to bridge the gap for Lytham residents to be able to see a specialist without going to Blackpool.”

The new clinic is due to open on Friday, March 13, with a second phase for the development planned later this year.

Liz added: “We plan to open a range of non-surgical cosmetic procedures in a few months’ time.

“These will include botox, as well as head and body massage.

“There is an awful lot of development going on in Lytham. This will give them a local service for them to use.”

As part of the scheme, two consultant and two non-consultant jobs will be based on the site, with recruitment ongoing.

Liz, previously hospital director at Spire Liverpool Hospital, said the new clinic would be the first of its kind in the area.

She added: “It’s something I have been involved with for some time. We have similar operations in both Liverpool and Manchester – the formula does work.

“We are very excited to reach into the community and look forward to our future in Lytham.”
