A COUNCILLOR who celebrated a double election victory after 30 years as a civil servant is to be the new town Mayor of St Annes.
Vivienne Willder grew up in the town and is looking forward to leading St Annes Town Council into an exciting new era as it shapes up for new full-time town clerk Sally Taylor to take over its administration.
Vivienne, who is popularly known as Viv, will turn 70 during her Mayoral year. She takes over next month from Coun Angela Jacques, who appointed Viv as her deputy when she became Mayor last year.
“I was really honoured to be asked by Angela to be her deputy and I am very much looking forward to being Mayor of St Annes,” said Vivienne. “It’s my home town and it means a lot to me. I am a great believer in local representation, with town and parish councils more important than ever and we are all looking forward to some exciting times.”
Vivienne, who is married to Jim and has three children and four grandchildren, was elected for the Heyhouses ward on both Fylde and St Annes Town Councils in 2011 after becoming a tenant board member of New Fylde Housing following her retirement after three decades in the civil service, primarily at the Premium Bonds site at Moorland Road.
“I enjoyed representing people’s views and I was delighted to be elected to both councils the first time I had stood,” she said.
Outside politics, Vivienne’s main interest is water aerobics, which she still teaches at the Inn On The Prom.
