Along with the all-important cheque to Brian House community fund-raiser Michelle Lonican, medals and certificates were handed out by Fylde mayor Coun Christine Akeroyd to the leading performers among the more than 400 participants in the 31st annual Lytham St Annes Lions swimarathon.

The money raised is going towards refurbishing the family accommodation at the Bispham-based hospice and Michelle said: “The incredible total will make a huge difference and thanks so much to everyone who took part what was a wonderful event.”

Lions president Eileen Skelly also presented a cheque for £500 to Coun Akeroyd for this year’s mayoral charities.
