Beach Huts founders Stuart and Zoe Robertson were presented with the visitor experience of the year prize at the annual awards held in Blackburn – 12 months after they clinched the small visitors attraction prize as well as being highly commended at the Visit England Awards

The latest award capped a busy year for the company which increased the number of huts by 10 to 26 as well as attracting visitors galore to its associated seafront apartments.

Stuart said: “We are absolutely delighted. There is an awful lot of hard work that goes on behind the scenes making the business work.

“The expansion to 26 huts this year has meant our workload has been harder than ever. During the season we’ve been getting up really early every morning just to get everything ready in time for guests arriving.

“It is not very glamorous work so to get this recognition really makes it all feel worth while!

“We have permission to site a total number of 45 beach huts on the promenade, so there is still lots of room for expansion. We are also exploring the possibility of opening a ‘beach shack’ alongside the huts, a seasonal food outlet that could work really well with everything else and bring in a much-needed secondary income. Earlier in the year we also increased the overall number of beach apartments we have to seven. Lots of our apartment guests book a beach hut with their apartment which really gives them a unique seaside holiday experience, and the feedback has been brilliant.”
