Inquest date set for couple

The inquests into the deaths of North Shore couple Denis and Elaine Thwaites, and 28 other Britons killed in June’s Tunisia terror attack, will be heard by a crown court judge.

Judge Nicholas Loraine-Smith, who sits at Southwark Crown Court in London, will conduct the official investigations into deaths of the UK victims of the mass killing in the Mediterranean resort town of Sousse.

Chief Coroner Judge Peter Thornton QC announced the date and location for the inquests of the victims, including former footballer Mr Thwaites and his wife.

The bloody attack by gunman Seifeddine Rezgui claimed a total of 38 lives, with terror group Islamic State claiming responsibility.

Judge Loraine-Smith was nominated to take on the role by the Lord Chief Justice, Lord Thomas of Cwmgiedd after consultation with the Lord Chancellor, Justice Secretary Michael Gove.
