Milton Jones is the latest big comedy name coming to Lowther Pavilion.

The comic, renowned as the king of the one-liner, will play the Lytham theatre on Sunday, February 15 and tickets go on sale tomorrow.

The signing, as part of a 62-date national tour by Jones, follows appearances at Lowther by the likes of John Bishop, Roy ‘Chubby’ Brown, Mick Miller, Omid Djalili and Andy Zaltzman.

Bishop’s gig coming up next month sold out in just over two hours with many fans left disappointed at being unable to buy tickets and theatre manager Mark Alexander said: “It is really pleasing that we are becoming a real destination venue for top comics. Milton’s appearance is quite a bit further away than John Bishop’s was when we put tickets on sale so it is difficult to predict demand in advance. But it is another major comedy coup with which we are delighted.”

Jones, 49, who has long proved a big hit on TV panel shows, made his name when crowned best newcomer at the Perrier Comedy Awards in 1996 and describes his act as perfect for anyone who likes silly stuff.

“There are no nasty surprises, just lots of silliness and if you’re the kind of person who takes the kids to the panto and laughs at all the silly lines, this is the show for you,” he said.

Tickets for his Lowther show will cost £24.50 and go on sale tomorrow from 10am. Details from (01253) 794221.
