Young Epilepsy will hold a launch event for its Connect project, which provides one-to-one support for sufferers up to the age of 25, to be held at Blackpool Victoria Hospital later this month.

Regional Connect worker Chloe Madders said: “We often hear from those affected by the condition that they feel isolated and simply need someone to talk to.

“Young Epilepsy’s Connect project will bring these people together and we are thrilled to be able to launch it in Blackpool.

“If you are local, live with epilepsy or know someone who does please come along to the launch and be a part of the Connect project.”

The scheme provides emotional and social support for young people and their families.

It comes after the charity found youngsters with the condition face discrimination, social isolation and low self-esteem.

Charlotte, whose child is benefitting from the service, said: “As parents we feel so privileged to have their support and we are so grateful for the help they have given my daughter.

“The Connect project is such a brilliant idea for families like us and it has made a huge difference to our lives.”

The event will be held in the hospital’s neurology department from 4.30pm to 6.30pm on Wednesday, April 20. Call 01342 832243 for more information.
