The Partnership, commonly known as STEP, was formed last year by traders and businesses with the aim to improve all aspects of the town – and has made it known it is keen to involve as many residents as possible.

It is affiliated with the Coastal Communities Alliance, supported by St Annes Town and Fylde Councils and also has the backing of the Department for Communities and Local Government.

Some consultations have already been held over how people want to see the town develop and chairman Bev Wood, who runs a design agency in the town centre, said: “It’s been a long road to get to this point however our formal launch of the Partnership was a real success.

“Our event was convened to present the members of our STEP group, outline our aims and ambitions for St Annes as well as inviting local businesses and residents to get involved.

“We had no idea of how many people would attend but were really pleased with the positive reaction from everyone who came along.

“All agreed that St Annes needs to push forwards with programmes of activity which bring sustainable prosperity to our beautiful seaside resort.

“Thanks to all of our core STEP team who were at the event to welcome attendees: Veli Kirk, Barbara Mackenzie, Darrel Treece-Birch, Coun Ed Nash, Mark Croasdale, Aileen Ames, Paul Drinnan and Sarah Dunn and also to all of the staff at The Palace who provided the room for our event.

“I have been a member of STEP for over a year now and in that time I have seen the group grow in numbers as well as in enthusiasm, and develop a viable action plan for our St Annes.

“I am passionate about this beautiful seaside town and want to ensure it continues to thrive for many years to come.

“We will be consolidating all of the feedback and ideas provided at the launch evening and these will help us to prioritise the actions businesses and residents want to see happen.

“I am looking forward to seeing many new faces at our regular meetings.”
