Lisa, 36, of Heathfield Road, is joining over 20 pals in the Muddy Manics event, a six-kilometre slog through a challenging obstacle course which takes at Burrs Park in Bury on April 24.

Lisa and fitness instructor pal Maxine Garrett are among those trying to raise £1,000 for Fleetwood mum of-four Sam Frith, of Forshaw Close, who was diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago.

Sam, who is just 32 years old, has young children aged between two and 11, and the aim is to raise cash which can provide some special treats for the family at such a difficult time.

The group are particularly keen to raise the money as soon as possible because Sam is thought to have just weeks to live.

They want to give Sam, who is married to Anthony, peace of mind that her family and friends will be there to support her children Dalton, two, Holly-May, nine, Phoebe-Lea, seven and 11-year-old Billie-Jo.

Lisa (pictured right with Maxine Garrett), said: “Cancer is a dreadful thing and you feel helpless that you can’t make it go away.

“But what we can do is support Sam and give her peace of mind that there are lots of people looking out for her children. We just want to raise as much as we can. In the meantime my sister Hayley and our mum Sharon and are there to help.”

The group of pals, who will all be travelling to Bury on a coach for the big day, have set up a Just Giving account to help them raise funds.

Mum-of-two Maxine, 37, of Broadway, Fleetwood, runs the Maxi Fitness metafit sessions at St Nicholas Church Hall (Broadway Rooms) on Tuesday evenings, followed by her abs blast sessions.

This Sunday Maxine is also running a special metafit session for couples at the Broadway Rooms at 2pm. It costs £3 and all the money raised will go towards the fund for Sam.
