The new manager of Lowther Pavilion is set to be named imminently.

After drawing up a shortlist of candidates, members of the Lowther Trust were set to meet this week to decide on their choice to take over the role made vacant by Mark Alexander’s resignation in August.

Trustee Teresa Mallabone declined to say how many candidates are on the shortlist following the interview process, but that all from the North West region.

“We are pleased with the way the process has gone so far and hope to make a decision soon,” she said.

Meanwhile, Lowther is introducing new later box office opening to satisfy public demand. The ticket office will now open every Thursday until 8pm.

Acting manager Keith Robinson said: “We hope people will take advantage of the new hours. There is nothing better than buying tickets in person and speaking to someone who can let you know about the offers available and a few more details about each show. Each of our box office staff researches the shows coming and can advise on suitability and on other shows.”
