Lytham mum over the moon after 'getting the news I have been praying for'

A Lytham mum who told of her heartbreak at the loss of a tortoise, which she has cherished for more than 40 years, has had it returned.

Diane Donohoe was shocked to discover her tortoise was missing from its hibernation box last month, as reported by The Gazette.

And in an emotional Facebook post this afternoon, she shared a picture of Herbena, thought to have been stolen, on her drive.

She said: "Thank you to who ever has returned Herbena safe and sound, up to now anyway.

"I could not believe my eyes and shouted, “Oh, my God,” so loudly my neighbours came running out to see what had happened.

"She’s just about to get into a warm bath now, and just hope she survives whatever ordeal she has been through."

Diane, 58, said Herbena was 'returned while my car was out the drive', and sent a message to her captors: "Whoever you are, I don't care, I'm just glad to get her back.

"Thank you to everyone who has made her too hot to handle."
