Rachel Hyde’s four A* grades means that she will go on to study natural sciences at the world-famous university.

Her success story is just one of many at the college as it celebrated its best ever set of results. Almost half of students achieved grades at either A* or A, with 90 per cent of students getting grades in the A* to C range.

Heidi Brotherton’s three A* grades will see her go onto study law at the University of Durham, while Harry Wilde, also with three A* grades, will take up a place at Warwick to read data sciences.

On the sporting side of the spectrum, Lydia Smart achieved exceptional grades while continuing to represent Great Britain at ice dance. She is now jetting off to Madrid, where she will continue her ice dance training with an Olympic coach.

Head of sixth form Phil Hayden added: “What is particularly pleasing about these student’s success is the wide range of courses that 
are being taken, ranging from medicine to management, criminology to computing, and science to song writing.”
