Man on knifepoint robbery charge

A man accused of robbing two men at knifepoint at a Blackpool hotel has made his first appearance at court.

Alistair Haines is alleged to have tied one of the men up with his own dressing gown at Uncle Brian’s Hotel, Springfield road, and stolen both men’s mobile phones.

Haines, 22, of Cheltenham Road, North Shore, Blackpool, is charged with two offences of robbery and two charges of possessing a knife in public on January 30.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, asked for the case to be heard at crown court.

Defence lawyer, Steven Townley, said his client would not indicate pleas to the offences at that stage.

Haines was remanded in custody to appear at Preston Crown Court on March 2 by Blackpool magistrates.
