Granddad of four Clive Garrad denied the historic allegations against him but was convicted after a trial by Liverpool Crown Court jury and jailed for two years.

The victim eventually did tell police and Garrad, of Meadowbrook, Marton, was arrested.
“Her complaint was triggered by concerns for the safety of female children with whom you were having regular contact,” said Judge Smith.
Garrad, formerly of Kerr Close, Kirkby, Liverpool, denied the allegations and at his trial called his wife and sons to give evidence on his behalf.

The judge ordered Garrad to sign the Sex Offender's Register for ten years and imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for the same length of time.
Barry Goldwater, defending, said the probation interview had taken place immediately after his conviction.
He added that Garrad had been a hard working man all his career in the motor industry and the father of four was described as “honest and trustworthy”.
