Marathon man’s Wonder Woman pledge

A St Annes man wants support from Express readers to help send his terminally ill sister-in-law on a special holiday.

Lee Good, a media sales advisor at The Express and Blackpool Gazette, is running 10 miles from Fleetwood to Blackpool in October.

He hopes to raise £1,000 to give Charlene Surtees, who has cancer, a holiday or Christmas to remember.

And if he hits the target – he’s just £250 short – he’s pledged to run the race dressed as Wonder Woman!

Lee said: “My target is to raise £1,000 to send Charlene and her family on a holiday to Disneyland Paris or give them a special Christmas, as it could be their last together.

“Charlene is married to St Annes soldier Richard Surtees, who has served in the Army as a driver port operator for seven years near Southampton where they met. They have six children between them Joseph, Joshua, Tyler, Keira, Reece and Alfie.”

Lee, who is registered partially blind, admitted it will be the furthest he has ever run and has been training with Lytham-based group the Fylde Coasters.

He added: “I would like it if any local travel agents would maybe contribute or match what I raise to help make this possible.

“Any local business interested could also help.”
