Blackpool North and Cleveleys MP Paul Maynard joined health and emergency service leaders signing a pledge to work together for the benefit of patients in the town.
The document, aimed at encouraging collaborative working to tackle Blackpool’s mental health problems, was presented as part of a meeting with Mental Health Minister Jackie Doyle Price.
During her visit to the resort the minister met representatives of Lancashire Care NHS Trust, Blackpool CCG, Blackpool Council and Lancashire Police.
She listened to stories of how mental health affects people living in Blackpool and the challenges facing those on the front line.
Mr Maynard said: “It was important for the minister not to hear from me, but from those who are out every day in our community, supporting and helping people who have mental health problems.
“I know how hard they are working and the challenges we face. The minister showed a good understanding of Blackpool’s unique issues and took the time not only to discuss the challenges but the wider social factors which contribute to mental health problems. She also heard about the good things being done which I hope can provide a foundation for future innovation.”
