MP Mark Menzies swapped the political arena for the sporting one during a visit to a Fylde football ground.
He was at the Blackpool Road North Playing Fields for the official opening of St Annes FC’s new changing rooms and kitchen facilities.
The ribbon was cut on the project by St Annes chef and businessman Paul Rowley, who is in charge of catering at Blackpool FC. Following the event, Mr Menzies said: “Investment in grass roots sport is key to continuing participation and interest and I was happy to see the work done by the club to improve things for its members.
“I was very impressed by the standard of the new facilities, as well as the passion for this project shown by officials and parents, which I believe is the key to success with schemes such as this.
“I was delighted to attend to show my support. I hope footballers of all ages continue to enjoy the facilities for years to come and the success of this project is reflected on the field.”
