New film is another string to Alfie's Boe

A brand new documentary about home town hero Alfie Boe will open the Manchester Film Festival, tomorrow night.

Alfie Boe: On the Wheels of a Dream follows Alfie during his 2012 tour of USA and sees him try to break through the stereotypes of the music industry, to allow him to sing any genres of music.

Part biography and part concert film, it features exclusive and candid interviews with the tenor, giving a unique insight into what drives him as an artist and a person.

The festival’s Programming director Al Bailey said: “With Alfie’s roots being in the North West of England, It’s a great fit for our opening night film. Having the world premiere in Manchester is fantastic!”

The film will be preceded by a number of North West based short films, including Taubman, One Last Dance and The Last Laugh. There will also be a Q&A with the director - Lisa Edwards.
