New-look Pavilion ready to launch

Fylde Mayor Coun Linda Nulty will officially open the new-look Ashton Pavilion in St Annes’ Ashton Gardens, which Phil and Corrin Green are now running under a seven-year tenancy from building owners Fylde Council.

The couple, who previously ran the Silantro coffee shop and wine bar in Wood Street, intend to make the Pavilion a community hub as well as providing refreshments for visitors to the town centre Gardens seven days a week.

They also aim to make it a magnet for tourists to help boost business across the town and have been delighted with the initial reaction from customers since opening a few days ago.

“We decided to have a quiet opening and have had a greatstart – lunchtimes are particularly busy,” said Corrin, who has nicknamed the building ‘The People’s Pavilion’.

Among the features being introduced are regular displays of work by local artists.

The first are Andy Austin and Victor Sanders, who both specialise in abstract work, and Corrin added: “The artwork is amazing and has transformed the room.

“The April art will be provided by another local artist, William Cummings, and the diary is filling up fast.”

Phil and Corrin also intend to offer the Pavilion as a venue for meetings held by local groups, as well as making it a key feature of major events held in Ashton Gardens.
