The first Christmas Fair at a St Annes children’s nursery proved a big success – and our Hospice Heroes appeal is to benefit.
As hundreds attended the fair at Summerfield Day Nursery, in the shadow of St Annes Parish Church, it raised a total of £600.
The majority of the cash will go to providing new equipment for the youngsters at Summerfield but the management has also decided to make a £100 donation to Hospice Heroes, held in conjunction with our sister paper The Gazette, which is intended to improve facilities for patients and their families at Brian House children’s hospice and its accompanying adult facility Trinity.
“It is a wonderful cause so we would like to make a donation,” said Summerfield deputy manager Adrienna Taylor.
The fair featured a variety of seasonal stalls, games and refreshments, a visit from Santa and the ceremonial switch-on of the nursery’s own festive lights, which are shining from dusk every day in the run-up to Christmas.
“Thanks to everyone who came along to the event,” added Adrienna. “We hold a summer fair every year but this is the first one at Christmas and we hope that others will follow.”
