Nursery's delight at outstanding rating
A nursery is celebrating after gaining an outstanding grading at its latest Ofsted inspection.
It’s the third successive top mark achieved by St Peter’s Kindergarten, Lytham, which was established in 1998 as part of St Peter’s RC Primary School in Norfolk Road and has a roll of 46 youngsters aged up to five years old.
The nursery was praised by the inspectors for its “successful strategies allowing children to thrive and reach their full potential” and that “children are highly engaged and superbly challenged by the expert teaching taking place”.
The report said: “Inspirational leadership motivates staff, with continued training given a high priority. The expert knowledge gained from training is fully utilised so that children consistently receive high-quality learning experiences and teaching’.
Staff were praised for ‘placing an extremely strong emphasis on developing children’s communication and language skills’ while the inspectors’ report also said: ‘the children’s vocabulary is of an exceptionally high level’.
Behaviour across the kindergarten was said to be ‘exemplary’, with the report adding: “The children share, take turns and are very respectful of others. Staff provide excellent role models for the children.”
Angela Heyes, kindergarten manager and St Peter’s headteacher, said: “This fantastic outcome reflects the dedication and hard work of the whole staff team.
“I am incredibly grateful for their determination and motivation to ensure that the highest of standards are consistently maintained. We now look forward to building further upon these successes.”
Kindergarten supervisor Angela Pisacane added: “I am over the moon that we again received outstanding. Our dedication and hard work have been rewarded.”
