Pantomime in big demand '“ oh yes it is!
More then 3,000 schoolchildren from across Fylde and beyond are already booked in to enjoy the Lowther Pavilion pantomime.
Theatre bosses say there is still some limited availability over the run of school performances - but with more than two months still to go to curtain up on Jack and the Beanstalk’s 16-day run, any school hoping to go along is advised to act quickly.
Blackpool actor Jack Wealthall, who has featured in the last two pantos at the Lytham theatre, again returns for the seasonal production, being staged for a third year by Polka Dot Pantomimes.
The company, based in Lincolnshire, also produced Cinderella at the Lowther Pavilion in 2015 and Aladdin in 2014.
The panto’s run from Wednesday, December 14 to Friday, December 30 begins with a series of morning and afternoon shows specially designed to accommodate school parties, including a signed performance on December 19 and a ‘relaxed’ show the following day,
The production’s schools co-ordinator Elaine Barron-Clark said: “Schools travel from far and wide to Lowther Pavilion as they want to see a professional production and we are delighted to hear we have over 3,000 children watching the school performances so far, already increasing numbers on last year’s Cinderella.”
While the appropriately-named Jack returns to the Lowther stage in the title role of Jack Trott, Rebecca Taylor-Grayson is also back as Fairy Sunshine, alongside other top performers direct from London’s West End theatres.
Last year, more than 8,600 fans watched the 28 performances of Cinderella – making it the venue’s biggest ever selling single production and Tim Lince, chairman of the managing Lowther Trust said: “Panto season is always a special time for everyone at Lowther. Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without panto at the Lowther and Jack and the Beanstalk, the giant of all pantomimes, is one to especially look forward to.”
Jack, a graduate of Blackpool and The Fylde College, said: “I’m a big fan of Lowther Pavilion and it will be great to be back.”
