The bench, in the garden to the north of the Georgian Hall, has been placed by his family and bears a plaque dedicated to a ‘much-loved husband, dad, grandad, great-grandad, brother and friend’, along with the phrase ‘You’ll Do For Me, Cocker’, one of his popular sayings from his long stage career.

The placing of the bench comes as fund-raising continues for the statue of Bobby planned for Lytham’s Lowther Gardens.

An appeal for £100,000 to pay for that was launched in December and a host of money-raising efforts have already taken the fund over the £20,000 mark.

Lytham Hall general manager Peter Anthony is delighted to see the memorial bench in good time for the planned reopening of the Hall grounds on April 12, when the next stage of lifting lockdown restrictions comes into effect.

Peter said: “Bobby was a great supporter of Lytham Hall and always did his utmost to help us raise funds.

“It is wonderful to have a bench in memory of this comedy legend and national treasure.
