Kilo, who is still a puppy, was lucky to be alive after the incident but has been left with fractures to both halves of his pelvis and severe damage to one of his legs.

The injuries were so bad that the family were advised the pup might be beyond help.

But they have managed to find a vet in Cumbria who will operate on the pet.

The accident occurred on Fleetwood Road South in Thornton on Sunday October 4.

Owner John McCann, who has another husky called Zeus, said: "As you can imagine, facilities weren’t easily accessible on a Sunday so it us took us a total of 80 minutes to relieve Kilo from pain.

"Both halves of his pelvis have been fractured and he has suffered severe damage to one of his legs.

"Kilo is not one to sit still. The freedom it’s taken away from our boy has left us in despair.

"His brother Zeus misses him dearly and hasn’t been the same since he left. It’s broken our hearts.

"Thankfully, we have managed to locate a veterinary service that can help our boy Kilo, after being advised by two services that this operation may not have been possible."

The family has launched a GoFundMe camapign to try and raise funds towards the vets bill.

So far the campaign has raised £1,090 towards the £2,000 target.

John added: "We are looking to raise money to help our baby boy on the road to recovery.

"All donations will aid us in covering the remaining veterinary costs. The littlest £1 will go a long way.

"So far we have covered the majority of the hurdles we have faced but yet, some still remain."
