Blake Dixon, who turned four on Sunday April 5, could not have a party with his friends and family because of the current pandemic, which he calls a 'germ storm.'

So mum Laura Dixon, 28, a PE teacher at Eldon primary school in Preston, decided to contact Blackpool Police to see if there was anything they could do to make her son's birthday special.

After emailing them last week, she was delighted to find that two PCSOs had come to the door of their home in Kildonan Avenue, South Shore.

Laura said: "I couldn't believe it when they actually turned up.

"The officers asked Blake if he wanted to have a look at their car, but he got a bit shy when he came to the door.

"He thinks there is a germ storm outside at the moment, and the police are helping the Avengers to keep people safe.

"They gave him a police teddy bear which completely made his day, it was such a lovely thing to do, and I'm so grateful to them for making his birthday special."

Laura said the PCSOs kept their distance and adhered to the social distancing guidelines, but still put their lights on for Blake, who loves police cars.

Blackpool Police were unavailable for comment.
