A spokesman for Blackpool Pleasure Beach said that wasn’t scheduled to be open that day anyway so will also be closed.

What about the Illuminations?

Blackpool Illuminations, which were switched off for two nights following the announcement of The Queen’s death, will again be off on the evening of the funeral, resuming on September 20.

Blackpool Tower was lit red, white and blue from the evening of September 9 and that continues through the period of national mourning up to but not including the funeral day.

Blackpool Grand Theatre

No performances were due at Blackpool Grand Theatre on Monday anyway but on other days during the mourning period, the venue says it will follow the guidance from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport and remain open.

Theatre performances of When Darkness Falls, running from Thursday 15 to Saturday 17 September and One Night in Dublin, which is on Sunday, September 19, will go ahead as scheduled, with a mark of respect for Her Majesty taking place before the curtain rises on each live show.

Blackpool Grand Theatre chief executive Adam Knight said: “The thoughts of everyone at Blackpool Grand Theatre are with the Royal Family at this very sad time.”

Odeon cinema

Blackpool’s Odeon cinema off Rigby Road will be closed on Monday, along with all other Odeons across the country.

A statement from Odeon read: “As a mark of respect for Queen Elizabeth II all Odeon cinemas in the UK and Northern Ireland will be closed on Monday 19th September. We will re-open again on Tuesday 20th September.”

GP practices and some pharmacies in Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre will be closed.

For those needing medical advice over the bank holiday the best options are either the pharmacies that are open or NHS 111 online at www.111.nhs.uk or by calling 111 on your phone. Trained operators will direct you to the best service for your need including speaking with a GP. If you need to go to one of the Urgent treatment centres in Whitegate Drive, Blackpool, and Dock Street, Fleetwood, or to A&E, NHS 111 will give you a timeslot appointment to help manage the flow of patients and avoid long waiting times.

Dr Neil Hartley-Smith, a Blackpool GP and clinical director for NHS Blackpool and NHS Fylde and Wyre Clinical Commissioning Groups, said: “There are still lots of services available for people on the Fylde Coast to use even though GP practices will be closed on Monday.

“Please avoid the Blackpool Victoria Hospital A&E department unless your condition is life-threatening. The best thing to do is call 111 as they may be able to book you an appointment at the appropriate service, which means you won’t have to sit and wait for long periods of time.

The picture varies, with some national pub chains and independents opening as normal and others later or not at all. Best to check with individual venues.

The situation is similar with restaurants. Among those adjusting their hours is the West Coast Rock Cafe in Blackpool town centre, which is opening at 5pm on Monday rather than the usual noon.

Owner Robert Wynne said: “Anyone previously booked in earlier than 5pm is being contacted.”

Costa Coffee has announced that all its branches will be closed.
