The site was previously a plant nursery specialising in fresh fruit and veg.

Wainhomes, which recently won a planning appeal over more than 100 houses in Lambs Road Thornton, has promised 30 per cent of the houses will be affordable housing.

The plans provide for a range of detached and semi-detached family homes to the outskirts of the village.

Katie Delaney, Associate Director at NJL Consulting, which is handling the application for Wainhomes said: “The proposals submitted to the council will help to boost the housing supply in the village.

“There is an identified need for additional housing and affordable housing in the Fylde which the application seeks to address through the delivery of a high quality development of family housing, utilising a heavily developed brownfield site.”
