Pleasure Beach 4am rollercoaster joyrider revealed

A teenage girl who broke into Blackpool Pleasure Beach and went on a roller coaster ride has appeared at court.

Kayleigh Grist and two male youths managed get into a control room and turned on the 82-year-old Blue Flyer wooden coaster at the funpark. They went joyriding around on it for about half-an-hour.

The Blue Flyer, which can reach speeds of 25mph, is a roller coaster for children and is based in Nickelodeon Land at the park.

Grist, 18, of Highfield Road, South Shore, pleaded guilty to burgling the T Cafe and Infusion Cafe at Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

Her case was adjourned for pre-sentence reports by Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.

Prosecutor, Scott Ainge, said Grist and two males entered various rides and premises at the Pleasure Beach on July 17 at about 4am. They managed to start one ride and rode round on it.

A 15-year-old boy from South Shore, who can not be identified for legal reason, also appeared before the judge accused of burgling two cafes at the Pleasure Beach. He did not enter a plea to the offence.

The boy, who is also alleged to have taken a digger from a Blackpool building site, was bailed to appear at the resort’s youth court.

He must not enter Blackpool except for appointments with his solicitor and court appearances, keep a 10pm to 6pm tagged curfew and lived where directed by the Youth Offending Team.
