Police continue probe into fatal stab attack

Detectives are continuing their enquiries into a fatal stabbing in St Annes.

Businessman Ian Dollery, 51, was found with stab wounds by police around 11.30pm on Thursday after reports a man had been assaulted outside an address on York Road.

Mr Dollery was treated by paramedics but was pronounced dead at Blackpool Victoria Hospital.

A 47-year-old man of no fixed address and a 54-year-old man from Lytham were arrested on suspicion of murder. The 54-year-old was later released, while the other man was detained in a secure unit pending a mental health assessment.

Police continued door to door enquiries in the area over the weekend.

A cordon on the alleyway behind York Road, where Mr Dollery was found injured, has since been removed.

A police spokesman said enquiries are ongoing and Mr Dollery’s family are being supported by specially trained officers.
