Lancashire Police is holding a question and answer session on Facebook to discuss the importance of internet safety and to mark Safer Internet Day today.

The annual campaign, now in its 12th year, is celebrated in more than 65 countries, and recognises the importance of the internet, how to get the most out of it and how to use it safely and responsibly.

Det Con Mark Laing, Lancashire Police’s Cyber Crime Liaison Officer, will be holding a question and answer session on Facebook today between 12.30pm and 1.30pm.

This will be an opportunity for people to ask direct questions about their e-safety concerns, the different types of cyber crime and steps they can take to keep themselves and their families safe online.

Go to www.facebook.com/lancspolice to access the online Q&A.

Safety tips and advice for children, parents and teachers can be found via www.trusted2know.co.uk or www.lancashire.police.uk. More information about Safer Internet Day can also be found at www.saferinternet.org. We will also be using the national hastags #SID2015 #Up2Us.
