Councillors at the budget meeting approved the recommendation of the finance and democracy committee, which will take the average Band D monthly charge for the 2021/22 financial year to £214.91, excluding town and parish precepts.

Hide AdLancashire County Council, which accounts for the bulk of the council tax bill in boroughs such as Fylde looking after items such as roads and social care, had already agreed a 3.99 per cent rise, set to increase bills by some £56 per year.
A 4.99 per cent increased was initially on the cards at County Hall but the ruling Conservative group put forward an amendment to levy only a two percent rise to cover social care costs, along with a 1.99 percent general increase, which won majority support.
Among items being budgeted for by Fylde in the coming year is £100,000 to be spent on improvements to play equipment across the borough.
St Anne’s Town Council, covering the biggest population centre in Fylde, had already announced it has frozen its council tax precept for the coming financial year.
