A rapidly-growing restaurant chain opens in St Annes next week – and its boss has expressed the hope that its arrival will act as a catalyst for other businesses to invest in the town.

Eighteen jobs will be created when Prezzo opens its doors at the former Sandhills pub in The Square on Tuesday.

The Italian restaurant has cost £650,000 to develop, offers seating for 106 guests and, under the supervision of manager Kamila Quinn, it will be open from noon to 11pm throughout the week.

Prezzo chief executive Jonathan Kaye said: “We are looking forward to opening our new restaurant, and are confident that it will be an excellent addition to St Annes’ social and dining scene.

“Hopefully, it will also act as a catalyst for other businesses to invest in the town too.”

Bosses say the restaurant has a contemporary design, and there is also a nod to the art deco era with geometric oak panelling, chequerboard mirrors and black and white marble tiles.

It will feature a combination of dining spaces, including a selection of banquette seating, party tables and booth seating.

St Annes Chamber of Trade chairman John Moxham said: “It’s in a prime spot so it will be good to see those prominent premises back in use again. The jobs are especially welcome.”

Prezzo has grown to more than 200 premises around the country after opening its first outlet in London in 2000.

The Sandhills pub, itself a conversion from a former wine shop, closed suddenly in early December last year after its parent group went into administration.
